wish to defuse from their cloaked enclosure

wounded winter blows in and hardens the mud

dodging intermittent showers, indoors sorting tasks

knowing well that leaves untied from oaks once crowned

need raking, shredding to uncover soil’s interim mask

permitting untamed trout lilies to blush and bound
